Carpe Diem / Seize the day!

Intro

Among millions of islands around the world, Croatia’s islands are something special. They are famous for their beautiful nature, and each of them has its own history, customs, and secrets. Some of them cannot be reached by car, so cruising from island to island, combined with cycling tours, is the best way to visit them.

On the first day, you will settle into the ship’s cabins that offer the comfort of a hotel room. Every morning, you will wake up to a new cycling adventure. You will explore the islands along the old paths carved by islanders into the rocky ground many centuries ago. You will experience the smell of the earth and its flora, the touch of the wind and sun, views of nearby islands, and the expectation of your next adventure. You will ride through olive groves and taste their fruits, along with bread, cheese, wine, and more. You will experience the islands with all your senses.

From Saturday, October 10, to Saturday, October 17, 2026, we will be exploring the Dalmatian islands by boat and bike.

Živa, Andrej, and Matej, a trio of local experienced licensed mountain bike guides, have spent countless days cycling through Dalmatia. Since we are aware that not everyone has the same skill and fitness level, we will ride in two or three groups each day. You’re welcome to switch groups daily as you like. We guarantee you’ll have a great time!

That’s us: local guides Živa, Andrej & Matej

Where are we going?

Dalmatia, Croatia, will be the site of our sailing and cycling adventures. We will board the boat in Trogir on Saturday, October 10th 2026 around mid-day. After setting sail, we will spend a week visiting islands of Šolta, Brač, Hvar, Vis and Korčula. We will return to Trogir on Friday afternoon, October 16, and disembark the following morning, Saturday, October 17.

A detailed schedule will be sent to you about a month before you arrive in Croatia.

A Week on the Carpe Diem

Captain Jure and his luxurious mini-cruiser Carpe Diem (Seize the Day) will be waiting for us in Trogir, Croatia. Built in 2016 and refurbished in 2025, this 36 meter / 120-foot motor sailor can accommodate up to 32 guests and has a seven-person crew. There is plenty of space for sunbathing on two decks, and the upper deck features a hydromassage pool. Breakfast and dinner will be served in the elegant dining room. Another socializing area and a lowered platform for easier access to the sea are located at the stern. The garage stores bicycles safely and charges electric bikes.

Enjoying the moment

The Carpe Diem has sixteen spacious double cabins on two decks, each with either two twin beds or one double bed.

The main deck has five twin-bed cabins and four double-bed cabins. The lower deck has seven double-bed cabins. No adjustments are possible regarding the bed arrangements.

Both upper-deck and lower-deck cabins are equally large and well-equipped. All cabins are air-conditioned, and each has a private bathroom with shower and toilet. The cabins come with towels and bedding, 220V power outlets, and Wi-Fi coverage. Hostesses ensure daily cleaning and towel replacement upon request.

The lower-deck cabins are quieter, have windows above sea level, but no direct access to the deck. We will take your accommodation preferences into account based on the order of bookings.

Our home for a week will be the mini-cruiser Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem has its own chef, who prepares the restaurant’s cuisine. We will be served two meals per day: a substantial breakfast buffet and a hearty multi-course dinner, which includes vegetarian and diet options. The ship has its own bar, which is open and accessible from morning until evening.

We anchor in town harbours every evening, which gives us the opportunity to take walks around the towns.

A week on a bike

We will visit the islands of Šolta, Brač (twice), Vis, Hvar and Korčula, and also spend a day cycling on the mainland. There are plenty of route options across all the islands to adapt cycling tours to satisfy both easier and more demanding groups.

Our playground: the Middle Dalmatian islands

Each island has something that makes it special, something that makes it worth visiting. The rewards will be great. We will usually disembark from the ship on one side of the island, cycle across it, and make the most of the day while Carpe Diem waits for us on the other side. Along the way, we will experience everything that makes mountain biking by the sea so beautiful: trails along the sea, gravel roads over the fields, bike paths through vineyards and olive groves, old paths between abandoned villages, and views from the highest peaks of the islands. There are also plenty of trails for those who want a more demanding experience. You can do it all with your own power or with the help of electricity 😉.

More about MTB tours

We will prepare seven daily mountain bike tours for two or three groups, all suitable for classic or e-powered mountain bikes. Since all three guides are very familiar with the area, we can adapt the tour to the participants’ skills, wishes, and abilities.

The average daily tour for Group B will be between 25 and 35 miles long with an elevation gain of 2,500 to 3,500 feet. We will ride all sorts of terrains – gravel roads, jeep tracks, some asphalt roads, and of course trails. Group A tours will be more challenging – usually longer, more elevation and more technically demanding single trails on descents. Optionally, Group C will have shorter and easier tours.

Use of helmet is mandatory during cycling tours! We also recommend use of gloves, glasses and (especially on trail descents) knee pads and elbow pads.

This is not a tour for beginner mountain bikers. We expect all the participants to have an appropriate fitness level for 4-6 hour daily tour and have adequate mountain biking skills. If you have any concerns or questions, please consult us.

Brač Island

In case of bad weather or other circumstances, the captain and the guides may change the program at their discretion. While cycling, we will be able to refill our water bottles and purchase snacks. We will have some tools and spare parts for basic bike repairs on the ship.

If you wish to have a day off, you can stay on the ship and sail to the destination. It is not possible to join the tour midway through.

A picture is worth a thousand words. The photos on this website and in the photo gallery are all our own. They were taken during our tours around the islands where we will be cycling.

Trogir, our departure town, is just a short five-mile drive from Split International Airport. There are other options for arrival in the region as well, including Dubrovnik, Zagreb, and even Venice airports.
